Vegas Tip #2: Costumes and Cash

12 Oct
Halloween is my favorite holiday.  Some may argue on whether or not it is actually a “holiday.” It is not like you get a day off from work or holiday pay and all the banks are open.  It is a celebration that really didn’t become an American standard until the 1920’s when “trick and treat” was introduced.  Today it is the nation’s second largest commercial holiday.  Eat your heart out on that Valentine’s Day!  In Vegas, Halloween is an extravaganza with every club, lounge, and local pub having a “scary” party with a costume contest to match.  If you find that right look, you could end up taking home thousands of dollars.

If you are heading to Vegas to get your spook on, you might want to find something impressive because past winners have been a 10-foot Optimus Prime, a towering Donkey Kong, the entire Addams Family, and nameless others.  The contests are no joke so if you think you are going to show up with pasties and a mini skirt the only person that will judging you is the guy that wants to take you home.  This year expect the clubs to be filled with Avatars, Vampires, Zombies, Lady Gaga (please no meat dresses), Alice in Wonderland, and of course the Jersey Shore.  Most costumes will need to be original, buying mix and match pieces from your local costume shop or craft store.  Get a lot of makeup and check out a wig store for the ultimate accessory.

This year everyone is celebrating Halloween all week long so it doesn’t matter what day you plan on going out, there is opportunity to win anytime! Here is the list of parties to check out:
