Get Rev’d Up

1 Nov
Halloween is technically over but that doesn’t mean the parties are and there is one final shindig tonight at XS with a costume contest worth $20,000 in cash and prizes. Halloween came full force this year in Vegas with the most parties I have ever seen. My costume predictions were pretty accurate as Lady Gaga, Avatars, Michael Jackson, and the Transformers made their appearances, but I was thrown for a loop when I forgot about Iron Man. My favorite was the two sexy ladies that dressed up as Steve Aoki and Deadmau5. I recommend everyone check out the galleries on spyonvegas.com to see all the awesome costumes and winners. Tomorrow the city goes back to normal as November is upon us. Everyone knows the city dies down around the holidays, but luckily Vegas knows how to keep us entertained.
This week SEMA is in town, also known as the premier automotive specialty product trade show. The convention is not open to the public, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the bootylicious models and the bling that sparkles throughout the booths. Blush is having the official “Funk Flex SEMA of 2010” party on Tuesday. I love luxury especially when it comes to cars so I’m going to have to go to get the word on the new products unless I can somehow get into the convention. If cars aren’t your thing you can enjoy some fashion at Lavo with “Label Junkie Wednesdays.”
If you need a break from the club scene, as I do every few weeks; the possibilities are endless. On Tuesdays Lolita’s has Poker League, NU Sanctuary Lounge has “2 for $2 Tuesdays,” and it’s The Grape’s Industry Night. You can enjoy some live jazz at Bootlegger’s Bistro and Rhumbar and live acoustic at Roadrunner on Tuesdays or Dueling Pianos at Harrah’s and the Blues at House of Blues on Wednesdays. If you prefer to sing (sidenote: just because you think you’re good doesn’t mean you are) Tuesdays you can go to McFadden’s, Blue Martini, or Gilley’s for karaoke. If you need to save your pretty pennies due to spending too much this past weekend, on Tuesday Todd English’s Pub has Nickel Beer Night and Agave has Las Horas Locas Happy Hour from 10-Midnight while Wednesdays Rock and Ritas has happy hour all night long. I’m playing it by ear this week. I say I’m going to relax and enjoy a glass of wine amongst my Vegas “family,” but then again all it takes is one call to convince me to get my motor running.
