And the Award Goes to…

24 Feb
Sunday marks the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, airing on ABC. The first award was presented in 1929 in front of 270 people at Roosevelt Hotel. It cost $5 to attend. Currently, the awards are held at the Kodak Theatre and tickets are only available through a lottery. If you weren’t lucky enough to pull a ticket, you can be part of the glitz and glamour in Las Vegas.
Oscar Night America, Las Vegas is one of 50 official viewing parties nationwide sanctioned by the Academy. The five-star charity event is at Palms’ Brenden Theatres. All proceeds go to Variety, the children’s charity of Southern Nevada, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for local children with special needs. This is the 18th year that the Academy and ABC have cooperated with local charities to support official Oscar Night viewing parties throughout the country.
The evening features red carpet celebrity arrivals, cocktails, entertainment, appetizers, a celebrity VIP reception in the Brenden Celebrity Suite with complimentary food and cocktails, gift bags, Academy Awards viewing on the big screen, an after-party at the Playboy Club, and more. There will be special guest appearances from Las Vegas entertainers.
The red carpet ceremony starts at 3 p.m. The Academy Awards viewing begins at 5 p.m. and the after-party begins immediately after. There are three different ticket options for attendees:
  • $50 – will get you the red carpet viewing and a $30 concession voucher.
  • For $97.50, walk the red carpet with the stars. Includes limo transport from onsite designated area to the red carpet, a $50 concession voucher and admission to the after-party. Available exclusively at
  • At $500 , you get admission for one to the Brenden Celebrity Suite VIP Viewing Party, limo transport from onsite designated area to the red carpet, Academy Awards program book, catered food and beverage, and more. Includes admission to the after-party.
The Palms is offering a room special. On Sunday night only, guests will receive a room in the Fantasy Tower, two $50 tickets, admission to the after-party, 20 percent off at Little Buddha, and two spa and fitness passes for $235. Make sure when booking you use code QOSCARN
If you prefer to stay out of the spotlight, Deuce at Aria, is also having an Oscar viewing party with specialty cocktails and appetizers from Union Restaurant & Lounge.
Wherever you decide to view the awards, you participate at and vote on your choice for best picture. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Toy Story 3.
