Celebrate Your Independence

27 Jun

I have to assume I don’t need to go over the history of July 4th. This is something everyone should learn in grade school. Just in case, July 4th is Independence Day, the day America declared its independence from Great Britain in 1776. The oldest continuous celebration is the Bristol Fourth of July Parade in Bristol, Rhode Island that has been held since 1785. The largest display of fireworks on record was in New York City in 2009 where over 22 tons of fireworks were lit. In Las Vegas, Fourth of July marks of the beginning of the busy summer season. Even though, this year it seems that the Electric Daisy Carnival changed those statistics, bringing a massive crowd on a usually slow weekend. This weekend has a lot to live up to, but I think it will be just fine with the multiple firework displays, concerts, and of course, amazing parties.

One of the best ways to celebrate is with fireworks, and eight casinos are displaying a great show this weekend. Caesar’s Palace will be kicking it off a day early, doing its display on Sunday night instead of Monday. On Monday night, Mandalay Bay, Hilton, and all of the Station Casinos will be lighting up the sky at dusk. Other places to catch a show will be at Lake Las Vegas and Las Motor Speedway Sunday night.
However, if you are more interested in the party scene going down this weekend, here is the full guide.

All Weekend Long

Mcfadden’s at Rio starts the party on Friday with the All American Sh*t Show Weekend. It will be featuring drink specials as low as $1, beer pong tournaments and a Daisy Duke Contest for the ladies. Saturday Acoustic Soul will perform with an open bar from 10 p.m. to midnight. Sunday a Red, White, and Blue Bikini Contest will be held with a $1,000 cash prize along with a shotgun beer contest.

Rock & Rita’s at Circus Circus grand opening is scheduled this weekend with the Great American Party. The 14,000 square feet party room will be filled with drink specials, flair bartending and snacks from morning to night.

XS Nightclub is bringing the beats to ring in the 4th with a major DJ line-up all weekend long: A-Trak on Friday; DJ Ross on Saturday; Manufactured Superstars on Sundays; Steve Aoki and Afrojack on Monday.

Whether you decide to celebrate at a party pool, parade, nightclub, concert, or in your own backyard, remember this day wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the brave people that risked their lives for our country. Just like every troop that continues to fight for our freedom, make sure you celebrate them as well.
