Restaurant Week has landed in Las Vegas for the fifth year in a row. However, in ‘Vegas time’ one week really equals two weeks because it started on August 29 and goes until September 11. This just means more deals and food for us so let’s be grateful. Restaurant Week was created in 2007 to help raise funds and awareness of Three Square Food Bank. Three Square is a nonprofit organization that fights to end hunger in Southern Nevada delivering nearly 16 million meals per year to over 600 partners. Each year restaurants participate in offering a multi-course tasting menu priced at $20.11, $30.11 or $50.11 per person where $4 to $6 goes toward Three Square. Over eighty restaurants are participating this year and here are my personal favorites, served any day during Restaurant Week(s).

Fix
Located in the Bellagio, Fix is one of my favorite spots to dine before hitting The Bank. All of the food is made to perfection and the Espresso Martinis are delicious. Fix is offering a three course meal for $50.11 with $4 of each plate going to Three Square. Guests can choose between Roasted Tomato Soup with Bacon Goat Grilled Cheese or a Caesar Salad for the first course; Crispy Chicken, Wood Grilled Fillet or Truffle Penne for the second; Warm Banana Doughnuts with 2 sauces or Espresso Milk Shake with Warm Chocolate Brownie for dessert. Personal recommendation: Roasted Tomato soup, Crispy Chicken with the “Shake & Cake” for dessert.

Stripburger
There are tons of burger places in Vegas, but this is my choice overall. I love its Veggie and Turkey Burgers (I don’t eat hamburgers) and the location is perfect to get some shopping in after. Stripburger is offering a three course lunch option for only $20.11 with $4 of each plate going to Three Square. Guests will start off with a sampler of Onion Rings, Fries and Pickle Fries then have the choice of a Cheeseburger, Famous Blue Cheese Burger or House-Made Veggie Burger and a choice of a milkshake for dessert. I don’t think I need to give my recommendation… I think I already made it clear.

Bar & Bistro at the Arts Factory
I went to this restaurant a while back during First Friday. I didn’t even realize it was there, but glad I found it. Not only is the food amazing, but the atmosphere is great for a date or dining with your friend with an artistic feel. Bar & Bistro is offering a lunch course for $20.11 and dinner course for $50.11, both giving $4 per plate. For lunch you get a Roasted Tomato Soup, B & B Salad and Cubano Panini while for dinner you get five great meals including B & B Caesar, Sweet Platanos, Tempura Alcachofa, Grilled Fish Tacos, and Warm Chocolate Cake. If you can, check it out this Friday and soak in some First Friday action.

LAVO
Lavo originally opened as Mediterranean restaurant and later switched to focus on Italian. It is mostly shared mini plates with rich traditional flavor. If you choose to have a cocktail there, I highly recommend the Uva Bianco off their specialty cocktail list. It is made with St. Germaine and Smirnoff White Grape garnished with green grapes. I can down those babies like its water. Lavo offers a three course dinner meal for $50.11 with a $4 donation for each plate. For the first course you get a choice of Crispy Fried Calamari, Chopped “Louie” Salad, Kobe Beef Carpaccio, or Eggplant Parmigiano followed by a second course choice of Penne Ala Vodka, Brick Oven Salmon Oreganato, Rigatoni Melanzana, or Chicken Parmigiano. Lastly for third course choose between Tiramisu, Oreo Zappole or Strawberry Cheesecake. I’ll let you decide your preference, but if you’re doing it Italian style I always suggest trying the Tiramisu.

Serendipity 3
Serendipity makes me nostalgic. It reminds of New York City where I first dined in hopes of reliving the moment between Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack in the movie, Serendipity… sigh… one of my favs. It’s hard to replace the original experience, but the Las Vegas location does a good job. They are offering multiple choices in three course meals for breakfast ($20.11), lunch ($30.11) and dinner ($30.11). No matter which one you decide to try, (maybe all three), each plate gives $5 to Three Square. Instead of going through the long list of choices, I am going to emphasize each offer the same third course dessert, Cheesecake Lollipop & Frrrozen Hot Chocolate Shot. The Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is its signature item and it is to die for.

To list all the restaurants and its choices would take the full two weeks so check out Three Square’s website http://www.helpoutdineoutlv.org/restaurants/menus for the full list and details. Wherever you decide to dine you can do so without any guilty pleasure because it is all for a good cause.
