Hole in One

Agent 21My favorite time of the year is only a couple of days away. How I love autumn, especially the beautiful weather. It is the perfect time to hit some balls, golf balls that is, and enjoy some seasonal brews. I, myself, am not a golfer unless it’s miniature golf. We had golf in my P.E. class in high school and I could never get the ball very far. I guess I should give it another “swing” to see if I have improved over the years. At least I know I’m good at one thing, drinking beer … and I love it. Maybe I should drink some beer and then play golf. I am better at darts when I’m drunk, so maybe it will work the same way for golf.

On Wednesday, September 21st, Coyote Springs and Sapporo beer team up to bring the first annual Yucca Cup Industry Golf Tournament. Multiple venues and casinos in the Las Vegas hospitality industry compete for the title of the Yucca Cup to be changed to their venue. For example, if MGM wins this year, next year golfers will be competing for the MGM Cup. Oh, how the egos will fight for this one. The tournament kicks off at 11:30 with a shotgun scramble. There is one spot left for a team of four to compete. You can contact Coyote Springs today and sign up, but you must be part of the hospitality industry to join. It is $35 for each player. If you miss the tournament, you can still enjoy the after-party and get a chance to win a moped. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., guests enjoy an open bar of Sapporo beer along with 50% off food if they RSVP at SpyOnVegas.com. Guests can enter the raffle for the moped at the event and the winner will be announced at the end of the evening.

Another golf tournament coming to Las Vegas is the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open. It is part of the official PGA Tour running September 26 through October 2. Last year, Jonathan Bryd won the open, ending it all with a hole in one. You can expect to see celebrities and professional golfers take over TPC Summerlin Golf Course. There is a rumor going around that Tiger Woods may be joining the tournament as well. Tickets are available from $20 up to $200 to watch the tournament on The Hill by the 16th, 17th and 18th holes with adequate seating, tables and television screens. To wrap up the tournament, Justin Timberlake & Friends are featuring a special concert at Planet Hollywood on Saturday, October 1st. Included in the lineup is Color Me Badd, Earth, Wind & Fire and Vanilla Ice. Ticket prices range from $100 to $500 and can be purchased through ticketmaster.com.

Keeping the trend with beer, Town Square is featuring a Craft Beer Tasting on September 30th. Throughout the evening, guests will be able to walk or crawl around Town Square with complimentary tastings of special beers at specific locations from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Starting off at Brio, guests can sample Samuel Adams from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. then head over to Blue Martini from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to taste Deschutes Brewery. From 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., Lagunitas Brewing Company will be giving out tastings at Nu Sanctuary Lounge. And lastly from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., guests will finish up at Miller’s Ale House with Lost Coast Brewery.

This is only the beginning of fall and a lot of events and festivals are to come. So get out and about and enjoy the fall weather because the season doesn’t last long. You can expect that I’ll be filling you in on all things to enjoy in October.
