Falling for Festivals

A new month is upon us and a new season. September was a busy month for festivals, events and parties around the city, but October is in the running to show it up. It is a perfect time of the year, with the weather cooling off and the holiday season coming in. Whether you are interested in pigging out, going back in time or hearing some great music, Las Vegas is delivering it all.

Food festivals are always a hit in the city, so it comes as no surprise that another one is jumping on the bandwagon. The 1st Annual Asian Food Festival & Trade Show premieres this weekend, October 1st – 2nd, at the Orleans Hotel and Casino North Parking Lot. Thirty authentic Asian food vendors are involved, along with live entertainment, retail shopping, special guests and carnival rides. The festival runs 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. both days and admission is $7 per day. If you have a passion for Asian flavor then you may want to grab a $150 VIP ticket, which includes access to the VIP lounge serving complimentary apps and a hosted bar with sake tasting. Make sure you save room for more eats on Thursday, October 6th – Sunday, October 9th because the 6th Annual Pure Aloha Fall Festival and Concerts returns to the Silverton. Over the course of four days you can experience food and entertainment for $7 per day. The festival hours begin at 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Saturday and wrapping up on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Running the same time as Pure Aloha on the eastside of Las Vegas at the Silver Bowl Park is the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival. For three days, guests can experience life in the medieval times with tournaments, re-enactments, food, beer and other forms of entertainment. Don’t be surprised to see people dressed up, as most like to get into character. Every time this event rolls through, I think of the movie, Role Models. Anyways, tickets are priced at $10 per day or $25 for a three day pass. If you aren’t sure what to expect, you can get a free ticket for Friday at SpyOnVegas.com.

Once you get your fill of food and fantasy, get ready to rock October 15th – 16th. Rockstar energy drink is bringing the ultimate rock festival to the Luxor festival grounds, appropriately named – 48 Hours Festival. Rockstar is bringing some major rock acts to Las Vegas including Korn, Godsmack, Sevendust and more. There will be two stages set up, one featuring mainstream artists and the second featuring current and upcoming rock artists. Tickets are sold as a two day package that are currently set at $99, but the price will go up as the festival gets closer. You can opt to check out the VIP tickets for $249 that gives you access to the party tent along with souvenir tickets and a t-shirt. The festival runs 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. both days.

There are events in Vegas that don’t last all weekend long, but worth checking out. The 7th Annual Vegas Prom returns at Nikki Beach on Wednesday, October 5th. It is a chance for Vegas locals to relive their prom night or perhaps go for the first time. I went last year and it was a lot fun.Another event to check out if you haven’t made it yet is the Fetish and Fantasy Halloween Ball, named “one of the top 10 events in the world.” This year it is on Saturday, October 29 at South Point, allowing more room for partying. There are a lot more events for Halloween that I will feature in the upcoming weeks, but Fetish and Fantasy can sell out fast so it’s worth the early mention.

Expect to see more events and parties to come up throughout the month… Vegas can be very last minute. We are also coming into convention season before the slower holiday season, so this will be the time to enjoy the fall before the holiday parties get booked!
