All-American Weekend

16 May

Three day weekends are always something to look forward to, unless you work in the industry and it just means an extra day of work. No matter which way it is for you, a three day weekend in Las Vegas means a busy time with visitors, locals, and all the events that go with it. The options are endless and keep you out and about Friday through Monday. Every major DJ is lined up ready and ready to spin at every pool and nightclub that puts the Winter Music Conference to shame. If you’re not into DJs, don’t worry, there are plenty of bands and music arts for live entertainment. If you want to relax for the holiday weekend, well you can do that too.

Memorial Day is not just a day off from work. The holiday is meant to take the day and honor Americans that have died in war. It was originated in 1868 by General John Logan and observed on May 30, 1868 to honor those who died during the Civil War. New York was the first state that recognized the holiday but not until 1873 with the Northern states following in 1890. The South refused to accept the holiday until 1971 when Congress passed the National Holiday Act, assigning Memorial Day on the last Monday in May. So this Memorial Weekend remember those who have gave their lives for our country and rejoice the life you live by honoring them in celebration.
