"Future’s So Bright…"

3 Jan
It’s a new year in Las Vegas and 2011 will be bringing some exciting things to the city. As if we don’t have enough clubs and pools, there will be more openings this year along with new and returning shows. You can expect that many clubs, lounges, restaurants, and hotels will be going through renovations and remodels to keep up with the trends and compete with the new. It will be interesting to see how the city adapts this year. Hopefully all of the changes will be good, with promises of new jobs to locals and transplants. On top of that, conferences and tournaments will continue to visit bringing business to the industry and hopefully increasing tips.
This month you can expect Vegas to be buzzing with the CES convention, AVN convention, and of course the World Series of Beer Pong at Flamingo! When I was researching things to come in Las Vegas, I was shocked that I didn’t know about the World Series of Beer Pong. I guess it is a pretty big deal with the winner taking home $50,000 in cash. Seriously, if I would have known about this I may have called up my beer pong team and told them we need to enter. Unfortunately, the contest is the 1st-5th of January so I’ve past the deadline for entry… maybe next year.
In February, the Sexiest Server contest ends and we will see who the Sexiest Server of 2011 will be with a check for $10,000. The Ritz-Carlton, at Lake Las Vegas, is to reopen with new ownership by Dolce Hotels and Resorts. The beautiful resort will have lower price points of $139-199 a night compared to $250 and above as it was prior. Right in time for Valentine Day’s… adorable.
March is going to be a crazy month in the city. The grand opening of the Las Vegas’ new nightclub, Chateau, in Paris will be March 4th and 5th. Partnering up with the creators of Sugar Factory, you can expect to see hot celebs and the typical hot Vegas staff. They have just started their hiring process so you can check it out at http://www.chateaunightclublv.com/ to apply. MTV is taking over Spring Break in Las Vegas March 6-10th at the Palms where the party is always going down. Celine Dion is making a comeback when her show returns in March. It will be more focused on music than performance so all you Celine fans can get excited.
Pool season usually kicks off in April and this year, Tropicana is jumping on the bandwagon. They are revamping their image, remodeling the casino and rooms, and opening the doors to Nikki Beach, Miami’s hottest beach party. You can find out more about the hip venue on their site, http://www.nikkibeachlasvegas.com/. It is not easy for an image to change, but I give my props to Tropicana for giving a full effort. With Rehab, Encore Beach Club, Wet Republic, Marquee Dayclub, Palms, Bare, Venus, Tao Beach, Moorea, and the countless other pools fighting for the best pool party in 2011, it should be interesting to see who comes out on top and who flops.
Other honorable mentions for the city are some additions to our culture. Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement is to open later in the year showcasing some of the biggest Mob crimes and criminals. The $42 billion project will add some life to downtown Las Vegas hoping to be a big draw for tourists and locals. Towards the end of 2011 in October, Cirque is bringing the anticipated Michael Jackson’s Immortal production to the city. It is a just a tour of the show so expect sold out shows until it ends in 2012.
I guarantee this is only the icing on the cake. Rumors have been flying about certain clubs and lounges closing and reopening, but until it becomes a fact I won’t mention any names. Even SpyOnVegas.com is doing some changes in 2011 with the launching of our new site and us “party monsters” thinking of new and fun events for everyone to be a part of. Don’t worry I will make sure to keep you posted on all of the happenings and news that revolve around the city of Las Vegas in 2011.
