Just Call Me Cupid

10 Feb
Some love it, some hate it, but there is no denying that Valentine’s Day is this Monday. It is the best day for Hallmark, roses, chocolate, and the “L” word, but the holiday’s original creation had no romantic ties at all. It was a holiday to honor numerous early Christian martyrs that were named Valentine back in 500 A.D. It turned into a romantic holiday by American Greetings with a story called The Golden Legend, which was spread all the way to history.com. Having no historical data, the legend states on the evening before St. Valentine was to be executed, he wrote the first “valentine” card himself, addressed to a young girl identified as his beloved. The beloved was the blind jailer’s daughter whom he had befriended and healed. The card read “From your Valentine.”
Whatever the reason may be for the holiday, Las Vegas is taking advantage of it by offering packages to locals and visitors to share with their special someone. Depending on your budget, you can have one special night or turn it into a weekend love fest with the offers listed below.
No Budget for Love
If your love is priceless, then you won’t mind spending $20,000 on Mandarin Oriental’s “Priceless Love Package.” The package includes a one-night stay (yes, just one) in the Mandarin Suite, equipped with a private dining room where you can have a private dinner prepared by one of its world-renowned chefs served by your personal wait staff. After, you can head up to the Mandarin Bar where you will receive a complementary bottle of champagne at a premiere table. Once a nice buzz has set in, you can return your room where your personal butler will have a sensual petal bath drawn in the couples’ tub surrounded by candlelight, strawberries, and champagne. The bath will only add to your relaxed state since you and your loved one enjoyed a couples’ spa treatment called the “Art of Romance” earlier that day. The next morning before checkout, breakfast will be served in bed.
Affordable One-Night Delights
On Valentine’s Day, Red Rock Casino & Resort is offering an “XOXO Package” for only $199. Couples will be picked up at either the airport or their local home in a limo with champagne and a rose for the lady. When the couples arrive, they will receive VIP check-in and be taken up to a resort suite. The suite includes rose petal turndown service, chocolate covered strawberries, and a bottle of Veuve. For a cheaper cost, Red Rock is also offering a one-night stay with two movie tickets and 2 buffet passes for $115-$150 depending on the night.
The man known for his love of marriages, Donald Trump, is offering an “Enchanted Evening Valentine’s Package” at his Trump hotel on the strip. Starting at $249, couples will stay in a studio suite with a complementary bottle of champagne, gourmet chocolates, and Trump bathrobes, personalization is optional.
Weekend Love Affair
The city of romance is vicariously living through Paris Casino and Resort. For $235 a night (two-night minimum stay), Paris is offering couples a $75 food credit to Le Provencal restaurant, passes to the Mandara Spa, tickets to the Eiffel Tower Experience, rose petal turndown service, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and breakfast in bed.
Keeping the Night Low
If you want to get out of the city, you can head to Boulder City for a one-night stay and dinner for two at the Iron Rail Café for only $99. MonteLago Village Resort at Lake Las Vegas is offering a one-night stay and breakfast in bed for $114.
If your relationship isn’t at “over-night status,” almost all the casinos are offering packages at their spas for couples. Rhumbar at the Mirage is inviting couples to cozy up on its patio with an embroidered Snuggie to have S’mores and S’mores cocktail for only $35. NOVE at the Palms is having a Valentine’s five-course prix fixe meal for $75, romantic view is included.
Whether you decide to spend the romantic day with a loved one, or at an anti-Valentine’s Day party, there are tons of things to do. And just remember… sometimes the most special way to show someone you care is when they least expect it.
