Who’s that Kid?

28 Feb
His top video has over 31,000,000 million views on YouTube. He’s collaborated with artists such as 50 Cent, Jennifer Aniston, Chelsea Handler, David Guetta, Pauly D, and Chatty from the Bad Girls Club. He is celebrating his birthday, Saturday, at Palms’ Nove. He is 16 years old. His name… Keenan Cahill.
Six months ago, no one knew who the heck this kid was and within a short time became a household name. Born in the Chicago suburbs, Keenan was diagnosed with MPS VI at age one. MPS is a rare genetic disease (less than 1,100 people worldwide) that causes multi-system abnormalities and clinical manifestations. It can lead to severe disability and a shortened life span. At age 2, Keenan underwent a bone morrow transplant to slow down the disease. He grew up having multiple surgeries and overcoming obstacles.
Keenan started his YouTube lip-syncing videos three years ago. It started off as a hobby and gained international fame when he combined his talent with Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. Katy Perry learned of the video and tweeted Keenan thanking him. The video has reached over 31,000,000 views in only six months since its premiere. Every video on his YouTube channel gained popularity and currently Keenan has over 200,000 subscribers. He’s been featured on multiple news channels, Chelsea Handler, and MTV. Not bad for a sophomore in high school.
Two days ago, 50 Cent announced he wants Keenan to join him on his upcoming tour. The tour isn’t until summer so Keenan won’t miss out on school. I wonder if he took a couple days off next week to recover for his upcoming birthday party. I haven’t heard of a 16 year old birthday party in a city that requires age 21 to party. The party begins at 9 p.m. Nove is having a special happy hour with $7 drinks from 9 p.m. to midnight. I don’t expect Keenan will be drinking, but he may be busting a move on the dance floor. I wouldn’t be surprised if celebrities showed up to wish him a happy birthday. I might have to make a special trip down to the Palms to understand what the hype is all about.
If you haven’t heard of Keenan yet or had a chance to see his video, I’m including my favorite for your viewing pleasure.
